Texas Republican for Obama

Letter from a Texas Republican
October 21, 2008
by Thomas Schaller

“BTW, I am a white Southerner, the descendant of a Civil War-era Tory. My family was voting Republican by 1868, if not 1864 — way before all these Johnny-come-latelies, whose ancestors were in the Klan. Regardless, I cannot stand any more hubris, incompetence, cronyism, profiteering, lies, malfeasance, mismanagement, or perversion of justice — whether by Bush, his enablers in Congress, or their successors.”

Virginia!

October 19, 2008

Virginia is a swing state.

Hello Make-A-Difference,

I hope you appreciate this incredible slide show that our local paper put together of the rally that Obama had in Richmond last week.

Thank you again for shipping the signs. They have gone all over the
Richmond metro area. I love the ones that ended up in Powhatan where I
teach dance on Tuesdays and I see signs that say things like “Powhatan is
McCain Country” We were able to access people who weren’t working directly with the Obama office here in Richmond. They were all impressed by the work you all are doing in reaching out to other states.

Your work is just one of the many examples I see over and over of people who are inspired to go the extra mile during this election. I once had a teacher who said that inspiration is a limitless source of energy.

I send my deepest gratitude for your efforts. They are not wasted.

Donna Brazile on Obama

October 14, 2008

“I won’t go to the back of the bus” – Donna Brazile
video clip (4:30 mins)

“We have come so far in this country….We have seen so much progress….This is a more tolerant, more open, more progressive society and yet we are having this conversation because Obama is bi-racial….My black skin does not make me inferior. And might I add, being a female does not make me dumb…..But at a time when we are in crisis, I want the best, I want the brightest, I want somebody to take me where we have never been as a country. We’ve been too stuck in the past, that’s why we can’t go forward. Let the next 31 days be about ideas, be about inspiration, and about strength of character. Let it be about something that brings us together and does not tear us apart….and don’t let no one take us back. We are going forward. And come with us.”
